Why Consider AWS Lightsail?
Amazon Lightsail provides a relatively simple way to run a website
on Amazon Web Services. Instead of relying on a conventional shared
hosting account, a Lightsail instance gives your website its own
allocated cloud resources with predictable monthly pricing.
For the right website, that can provide a useful combination of
performance, control, and cost. It can also avoid paying for a large
managed-hosting package when much of what it includes isn’t needed.
You don’t need to learn Linux, configure a web server, or figure out
AWS yourself. That’s part of what I can handle for you.
What Does an AWS Lightsail Instance Cost?
As of September 25, 2026, Amazon Lightsail Linux server plans
with a public IPv4 address start at $5 per month. Current plans
include $7 per month for 1 GB of memory and $12 per month for 2 GB of
memory. Larger plans are available for websites that need additional
resources.
Those prices are for the AWS server itself. Website migration, setup,
maintenance, backups, security, and support are separate services.
AWS can also charge for additional resources or usage outside the
allowances included with a Lightsail plan.
For a small WordPress website, the relatively low infrastructure
cost can make Lightsail worth considering, particularly when compared
with higher-priced hosting plans that include services the website
may not need.

Is AWS Lightsail Right for Every Website?
No. Sometimes conventional shared or managed WordPress hosting is
the better choice.
